19 Tips for Relieving Stress
If you're feeling stressed, there are a number of things you can do to help relieve the tension. It's important to remember that stress is just a feeling. It too shall pass. Here are some ways to address it when it shows up in your day:
1) Take a deep breath.
2) Stretch your muscles.
3) Count to ten (or one hundred).
4) Think about something calming, like a tropical beach or a peaceful forest.
5) Do some simple yoga stretches.
6) Walk around your neighborhood while listening to music.
7) Speaking of - listen to music you love.
8) Get some fresh air by going for a drive or taking a hike in nature.
9) Meditate.
10) Talk it out with a friend or family member.
11) Exercise - it's not just good for your body, it's also good for your mind!
12) Do something creative - like drawing or writing.
13) Take a hot shower or bath. The heat can help relax tense muscles and calm your mind.
14) Watch your thoughts flow by like clouds in the sky. Think of your mind as an airplane passing over those clouds. Just observe what passes through your mind without getting caught up in it. It's okay if some thoughts keep popping up - just keep observing them and letting them go.
15) Do something relaxing that requires concentration like crossword puzzles or Sudoku.
16) Get a massage (or give one).
17) Eat something delicious.
18) Take a nap - it's the best way to rejuvenate yourself!
19) Get lost in a book.
